The white ghost pepper, which is a natural variant of the regular bhut jolokia and comes from north east India, is apparently quite rare, and I don’t know how pure this strain is as it’s not showing that wrinkly look synonymous with super hot chillies. I don’t know whether that is natural or just my plant! I grew it in a medium sized pot, as I do with all my chilli plants as I like to keep them indoors, taking them out for a few hours on really hot summer days. This summer (2015) was the first time I grew it and it proved to be a very happy grower, producing freely, going through a slightly quiet phase a couple of times. The Bhut Jolokia (or Naga Jolokia), know here as the ghost chili. Some clock in at over a million Scoville units. in ideal locations with a long growing season (maturity is reached in 100-120 days). We love ghost peppers (aka bhut jolokia) for their vibrant yet earthy flavor and slow-building burn.
